10 years ago, in 2014, a global picture framing manufacturer sought our assistance to address a critical challenge they were facing. Today, our partnership stands stronger than ever. In this case study, we look at a brief history of our client, the hurdles they encountered, and the solutions provided by Anchor Magnets.

The journey of our client traces back to post-war Germany in 1946, where the founder, initially running a bookshop, witnessed growth by introducing pictures of revered saints. This pivotal moment laid the groundwork for what would eventually become a renowned entity in the picture framing industry. A further transformative spark ignited in 1973 when the founder's son, inspired by magnets holding up various papers, conceptualised the magnetic picture frame. With a magnetic opening and closure mechanism, framing and rotating pictures became seamless, precise, and tool-free.

Despite setbacks in garnering interest through traditional sales channels, our client pivoted, directly engaging end consumers including artists, collectors, museums, galleries, and art enthusiasts. Progress was steady until 2014, when the EU's REACH regulations posed a significant challenge to their original supplier, who struggled to meet compliance standards.

So, they turned to Anchor Magnets for a solution.

Our Business Development Manager, Nils Hofmann, flew over to Germany to meet with the then owner. Following extensive discussions and factory insights, we worked together to create three bespoke magnetic tape profiles and adjusted our granulate compositions to meet precise requirements. The flexibility and pull strength of our magnetic tape profiles emerged as pivotal assets, addressing our client's unique needs effectively.

Today, we proudly manufacture these bespoke magnetic profiles, delivering them to our dedicated German warehouse on a flexible call-off basis. This allows our client to meet surges in demand quickly, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
